Hanging Judge" Issac Parker's chief marshal won widespread fame as a lawman and gunfighter. Bulldog tenacity and a cool head under fire were traits outlaws were up against in Thomas if they ran or tried to fight it out. Badman Bill Doolin of the infamous Doolin gang was one of many who met their fate trying to outshoot the cool marshal. A native of Georgia, he was working as a private detective in Texas until recruited by Judge Parker. The ranks of Parkers marshalls included the famed Bill Tilghman, one-time sherrif of Dodge City, Kansas and Chris Madsen who had fought with the French Foriegn Legion in Africa.
